As we close out another year, I look forward to 2010 being a productive year for me personally and and in my business ventures.
I went through a lot of changes this year, and hope that my decisions pay off in the year to come. Here is a recap of my 2009: Read the rest of this entry
Do you blog engage? If not you should be. I have spent many hours in social bookmarking sites over the last 2 years, and Blog Engage blows the rest of them away.
Blog Engage allows you to submit your articles, for other articles, and get involved in a great community of bloggers.
I have seen many posts about commenting on blogs, replying to comments, do-follow, no-follow etc… this last couple of weeks, and have commented heartily on most of these posts. I personally think it is VERY important to comment on blogs in your niche and want to give MY opinion about who/what/when and where: Read the rest of this entry
Do you use a plugin or application that forces users to sign in with Disqus, Blogger Profile, Google, Twitter or any other sign in? I hate these apps!
Why Do I hate Disqus?
You could be missing out on quality comments by forcing your readers to do this. There are maybe 2 out of about 100 blogs I read that I will actually sign in to some third party app to leave a comment, and I have to REALLY want to leave the comment to do it. Read the rest of this entry
After I design a new site and upload my theme so I can see it on different browsers and am comfortable with it, the first thing I do with my Wordpress Do-Follow site, is start adding plugins.
I have compiled a list of 17 plugins I am currently using in Need-Information.com:
Add to Any No matter what your favorite way of letting people “share” or bookmark your site, just make sure they can and it is easily accessible.
Akismet: This is a must have, especially on Do-Follow sites. You will need a wordpress.com account to activate this plugin, but it is one of my favorites for catching spam comments.
CommentLuv: This a great feature for your commentators because it leaves a link (do-follow on this blog) to the latest post of that commentator with the post title. I click on these a lot when I am commenting on other blogs (good reason to write catchy titles too!)
One thing I have noticed while lurking among the blogosphere is that some bloggers completely ignore the fact that you can change the structure of your permalinks. It is really one of the simplest changes that I immediately change when setting up a blog.
By default the structure is setup to create your permalinks like this:
www.yoursite.com/?p=123
This url structure essentially robs you of getting keywords in your url which, in my opinion is an important part of the optimization of your pages. You can, with the click of a few buttons, change that setup and never worry about it again!
