10 Goals for 2010
Friday, January 1st, 2010 at
8:11 am
My goals for 2010 are pretty simple:
- Write everyday (5-6 articles per week here and 1-2 articles per week on my fence site)
- Out blog the “John and John Show” (man those two guys are animals!)
- Maintain SEO for both my sites plus a couple others I help to manage
- Develop new site for door and window products
- Add valuable comments to the blogs I read (for promotion not SEO)
- Learn to use PhotoShop or similar product
- Guest blog on 10 other sites (anyone interested just let me know in the comments)
- Let 10 bloggers guest post here (comment if interested)
- Be more engaging on Twitter and Facebook
- Play more golf (since Tiger is out, maybe this is my chance!)
There are more, but I have better things to do today (Bowl Games all day!) and don’t want to bore you with my goals. I look forward to 2010 (it couldn’t be much worse than 2009!) and I look forward to networking with you all…

You already have #5 accomplished so I have no doubts you’ll accomplish the rest..
Are we on the same page? You blog your goals and I blog about goal setting.
Write everyday (5-6 articles here and 1-2 articles per week on my fence site) – Unrealistic goal. Blog more often- Realistic goal.
Guest blog on 10 other sites (anyone interested just let me know in the comments)- Unrealistic. Do some guest posts- Realistic
I’ll guest post.
@Glen, I do like to comment, almost too much! I could probably get more content on my own site if I kept some of my opinions here instead of in comments on other sites.
@Rose, I don’t think my goals are unrealistic, I think they are measurable and challenging. Is writing everyday a tough goal? Hell yes, but I can write multiple posts and schedule them for future publish dates. But even if I don’t achieve writing everyday, trying to do so will mean that I will “blog more often” as you put it.
10 guest posts in a whole year is unrealistic? I think it is not, I can think of 6 places off the top of my head that would let me (a couple have been asking for over 6mos) so I think it is obtainable.
You are welcome to post here anytime, send one over and I will post it
We’ll see at the end of the year if you write 5 to 6 posts everyday.
Perhaps the 10 guest post isn’t a unrealistic goal, but I’m still betting my money on the first one (5 to 6 post) being unmet.
Happy New Year and good luck in 2010.
On a side note, I think you can do way more than 10 guest posts. I like your writing style and I think you’ll be able to find homes for your articles on a lot more than ten sites.
@Rose, it was supposed to read “5-6 posts a week” not everyday
so I adjusted it to clarify, I still work too, I don’t have that kind of time! LOL
@Mike Crimmins, Thanks, some days are better than others and sometimes I seem to loosen up and really write in the comments on other blogs, so I would also like to harness that and try to keep some content here on my site.
Best of Luck to you too!
I don’t do goals but if I was to pick a couple it would be to keep up my standards of commenting and interactions on my blog and those I love to visit.
@Keith, I was going to say.. 5 to 6 post a week. Well, we’ll see.
Nah, it really was a sweet thing to say. It shows you appreciate your commenters.
I had this post open a while back to thank you for mentioning me
and then my wife took over the computer I was glad I kept thinking I hve to go back LOL:) I think goals are great and having a sense like your ON FIRE pays off I see your popping up everywhere
But with anything in blogging modulation is good somethings need pushing and some a little LUV but with your attitude your going to be getting a lot done
thanks
PS as far as bloggerluv I have a friend monitoring it because he said he was getting troj alerts WOW LOL
Outblogging the two John’s? each one, right? not both of them combined?
Impressive goals there, and not unlike my own in many ways (well, I don’t play golf, but I try to run).
Happy New Year and best of luck with them goals!
You’ve definitely motivated me to get serious about my blogging goals. My others are ready. Now to follow your lead.
You seems to be very ambitious with what you set but I hope you can achieve all at the end of the year.
@John Sullivan, Ya I tried to go there couple of times (BloggerLuv) in last few days and get the “trojan” warning too, let us know when you get it working…
Thanks for stopping by, I am glad to have people like you and Extreme that set the mark high, keeps the rest of us on our toes! LOL
Headed home from Atlanta tomorrow, so will be in full force starting Monday again!
Outblog them individually, that is hard enough by itself LOL.
Thanks for the comment and for stopping by, hope to see you here again…
@Blog Tactic, Thanks I will head over and take a look to see what I can come up with.
That a good gathering of goals for 2010. I think everyone int he world has made a list and I wish you much success with yours.
Very interesting list if you accomplish #1 the rest will follow and as glen has said you have accomplished #5 thanks for your support and good luck for 2010
5-6 posts per week is definitely a lot. If its quality and not quantity that matters, why are you stressing a number?
@Web Your NameĀ® Top 10 Google Results, It is a combination of quality and quantity. The chances of me actually getting 5-6 articles a week are not good, but by trying to do that, I will post more regularly on this site, which creates more content, more comments (which creates more content) and build a bigger community.
Just wanted to let you know I also have a fence products site that is a do-follow blog: buy-fence.com, maybe we can do some collaborating for your pix2brix site….
Thanks for stopping by.
Chuck, Did you get PS? I have a similar program with Corel and Gimp but I really want to get PS.
Thanks for the compliment on #5, I pride myself in making my comments valuable, I think a lot of bloggers miss the importance of it.
Keith, apparently you are also a home products guy? I am building a custom home and blogging it at:
Pix2Brix.com
If you’d be interested in doing a guest blog about fencing and/or choosing windows or something related that would be of interest to others building a custom home, that would be welcome.
Let me know.
It’s also hard to set (and accomplish) a goal that isn’t quantified somehow. Much easier to do three kind acts every week than to be “more charitable” if you know what I mean.
I have been neglecting that site since starting this one, even though it is my actual full time job. As of right now, I need to try to get some articles up on that site too, plus I am still developing the static product pages.
I may be interested in putting something together for you in a couple of months though. In the mean time, maybe some link exchanging?
Keith,
Great list! Let me know if you need a guest post sometime…I can certainly talk about my experience creating a profitable blog. Happy New Year!
Send one over anytime Todd! You have been a great influence to me. I also referred Alison (comment above yours) to you for a guest post, she has a nice blog about building too.
Thanks for coming by, still tweaking it….
We have very similar goals and I will be trying to churn out 5-6 new post on TB and I really need to kick it up a notch on my other blogs as I have been putting them on the back burner lately. Good luck out blogging john and john, they are tough…I have noticed that EJ has not published since the 1st so you are off to a quick start this year. Wishing you all the best in 2KX.
Those are great goals for this year. I still need to get around to posting my goals for this year.
If you need help or suggestions to find tutorials on photoshop let me know. I’ve got about 6 months of experience of using photoshop and I am always looking and learning more about photoshop.
well done that you make your 2010 goals in advance and i hope you are committed to those goals. writing 4-5 articles in week is cool to listen, i hope you made it but please take care of content. keep it up
Thanks for the FANTASTIC list! This information is really powerful so so thanks for sharing it
Im taking a big look around your site – seems like you have some really useful posts!
I simply wanted to add a comment here to say thanks for you very nice ideas. Blogs are troublesome to run and time consuming therefore I appreciate when I see well written material. Your time isn’t going to waste with your posts. Thanks so much and carry on You’ll defintely reach your goals! have a great day!
You will definitely meet your goals in 2010 because you have set them in advance. People who think while working on the other hand can’t go through.
I’m actually looking for somewhere to write a guestpost but I’m a bit uncertain about the topic. Maybe you would be interested in writing a guest posts on each others blogs Keith?
@Stefan, Sure Stefan, I would be interested in it, as far as topics go, I like to keep mine to blogging tips, marketing, wordpress and social media. So if you want to just let me know what topic you would like me to write on as well. Thanks for dropping by….
