As we close out another year, I look forward to 2010 being a productive year for me personally and and in my business ventures.

I went through a lot of changes this year, and hope that my decisions pay off in the year to come. Here is a recap of my 2009:

2009-calendar

Fence Business:

The year started really good with my fence contracting business, I had been blogging about fence for a year and had developed 6 sites I was blogging on. Due to the housing bust in the US, I made a decision that the fence business was going to be changing and I wanted to go in a different direction. My thinking is that more homeowners would be trying the DIY route with their fence projects, and I wanted to offer fence and rail products online, where the products could be shipped throughout the US.

I began talking to one of my manufacturers I was already dealing with, and they agreed to drop ship my orders. I got an offer from a friend and competitor in the fence business to buy my sites, so I decided it was time and agreed to the deal.

My online fence store is new (Oct 09) and hasn’t been completed yet (been neglecting it because of holidays and starting this site) but I am already making sales from it, so I am excited for the new year.

Need-Information:

My concept of need information dot com has been in my head for much of the year. After experiencing great results with my websites for fence, I believe I can help others that are trying to get an edge in marketing their business online. I started this site 13 days ago, this is my 15th article on this site, there have been 178 comments as of writing this post, and have had 315 visitors with over 1000 page views. My Alexa ranking (not really important, but I was surprised at it) is around 625k worldwide and 103k in the US. Not too bad for a 2 week old site!

The amount of support I have received from my community is awesome! The couple of weeks before I started this site, I had begun to follow some blogs in this niche, commented when I felt it was appropriate, and began to network. To my surprise, I had started building a community around me before my site was even live, and when it did go live, I got comments and re-tweets right away!

Thanks!

So to close out the year, I want to thank EVERYONE that has read my ramblings, commented here, linked to my site, and voted/retweeted my articles. I look forward to 2010, and hope I can keep you all interested in my writings.

A Special Thanks:

I would like to give a special thanks to a few bloggers I have recently started following and they have influenced and helped me in ways they don’t even know:

  • Rose DesRochers – Todays Woman Rose has been the top commentator here since I started (as she is on many sites) and I thank her for that.
  • Sire – WassupBlog – Sire has a great blog (more than one) and I enjoy reading his articles as they are honest and straight up. He is always a great commentator and replies to most all comments on his site.
  • Extreme John – What can I say, the name says it all. John has a unique writing style that keeps your attention, very hard to keep up with his work ethics too, this guy writes in his sleep!
  • John Sullivan – PotPolitics is a site that many of us look up to and is a pioneer of Do-Follow, I look forward to the year to come and I know John Has some great plans.

These are just a few of the MANY bloggers I admire, but these have really influenced some decisions and goals I have set for NeedInformation.
