What Browser Are You Using?
An important part of blogging, or being your own webmaster is your browser. I have used Netscape, Internet Explorer, Safari (for Windows), Chrome, Flock and Firefox.
Mozilla Firefox:
I discovered Firefox only a few years ago through a friend that recommended it because my IE constantly crashed. I downloaded Firefox and have never looked back.I still keep IE and Safari on my computer to use if I am testing web designs and plugins to make sure everything looks the same across all browsers.
The amazing amount of addons available for Firefox is great! Of course, just as everything else, overuse of addons will bog down your browsing depending on the ability of your machine.
You can customize the appearance with themes, you can add various toolbars, twitter tools, and much more. Some of the addons I use are:
- SEOQuake for checking various parameters of sites I am browsing
- RankChecker (seobook.com) for checking my ranking on search engines for various keywords
- Delicious for easy bookmarking
- StumbleUpon for “stumbling” across sites on certain topics I like
- Alexa Sparky to see Alexa rankings for sites
I also like the fact that I can easily view the page source of another website to see the coding in that page.
Are you using Firefox, if so what if any addons or plugind do you like?

Hi,
I think Firefox is great as a search browser but now we have some latest versions in it. So 3.5 is not a fully functional because we have 4.0 series.
Anyways keep it up with your valuable thoughts.
Actually, Firefox 3.5.6 is latest stable release from Mozilla, I have not seen 4.0 officially released yet.
I’m a Firefox users too. I think the only plugin I installed was SU.
Once I made the change to Firefox I never stopped to look back once. I can’t even remember what Internet Explorer looks like anymore, sad I know.
The Add-ons in Firefox are the key factors for me, I am addicted to Add-ons just as much as I’m addicted to Wordpress Plugins.
I went to Chrome from Firefox but only because it was getting real slow. I think it’s time to give it another try as I really prefer Firefox
Sire,
That happened to me and I slimmed down my addons and plugins, went back to a stock theme etc…
Another thing I do If I plan on doing some serious browsing is open multiple browsers to spread the amount of RAM they are using around. Makes is easy to go back and forth when I open my sites and admin pages on Safari, and do my blog reading, commenting and research on Firefox (or vice versa). I have been known to have Chrome, IE, Firefox, and Safari open all at once!
Thanks Mike. Maybe that’s where I went wrong, opening internal tabs, as I thought that was saving memory. Shit, you live an learn.
I think Firefox is a must have for anyone in web design / development / blogging. There are so many great add-ons. I have to admit I have the slow browser issue as well, so what I do is keep my Gmail open in Chrome and do any blogging or other work that requires any of my plugins in Firefox.

Firefox is the only way to go! Nice new site Keith!!!
Keith,
I’m using Chrome and I love the speed. I have the bit.ly extension installed. My bookmarking site of choice is Diigo (not Digg of course) which is way more productive that Delicious. However, I prefer using the Diigolet over the extension because the annotation features aren’t part of the extension.
FYI – I autopost things to Delicious, but I never actually access my bookmarks.
Thanks for asking.
I do alot of my searching and research of other sites with chrome and some really good extensions for Chrome
